Transition is a buzzword in the military and veteran community. When you leave the service and become a veteran, you trade one life for another. Some people bemoan not having an adequate transition plan; others easily seem to hit the ground running and move from one life to another. I was stuck somewhere in the middle. Veteran’s Day always gets me thinking about what it took to earn the title “Veteran” and how my life has changed as a result.
Hills and valleys are hard. We go through so many ups and downs in this life. I’m so glad you are who you are! Your life experiences have shaped you into the man you are today. Good and bad. Please keep “keeping on”. Know you are loved by so many people. Continue to share your heart. It means so much. Love and hugs! And yes! Happy Veterans Day!
Stan What you wrote is amazingly similar to my experience it just took me so much longer, about 55 years, to come to the same place As I said in our class, who startled I was to find my thoughts expressed by others in the class, given different ages, experiences and wars I am happy you have progressed faster This is another very good piece
I’m for sure still figuring it out and to be honest on the inverse that’s also what I loved about that class. I loved seeing you and some of the other guys from different wars feeling the same as I do about things so it made me feel that it was okay to still wrestle with it all. Genuinely found common ground and felt less alone with you guys.
Thank you! Happy Veterans Day! Transforming daily! As usual you have given me something to think about! Thank you for this!
Thanks!
